Questions

Bathroom Electrics and Extractor Fans: your questions answered

Does my bathroom need an extractor fan?

Building Regulations require extract ventilation in bathrooms. A fan with an overrun timer or humidistat keeps working after you leave the room.

What are bathroom zones?

Zones 0, 1 and 2 are the areas in and around the bath and shower. Each has rules on which fittings and IP ratings are allowed.

Can I have a normal socket in my bathroom?

Standard sockets must be at least 3 metres from the edge of the bath or shower. Shaver sockets are allowed closer.
